Hidden London gems!

Updated: Mar 3, 2019

London is the city where you can find quite everything!

It is a place where one is always happy to travel. Let's recall why!

STYLES Thanks to styles, individuals, faces, hair, colour diversity ... London appears to be a true reminder that the future lies in celebrating diversity and unity. Sorry conservatism.

GOOD VIBES Exchanging words with the cab driver enable TST to get quick insights into the city mood. Londoners have this " je ne sais quoi" specific to London.

FLEGME Something we "Frenchies" call the English "flegme".

An interesting fact is that asides the traditional English ways, there is room for a vibrant underground scene looking like a fountain of youth. A fountain in which fashion designers, painters...artists can freely dive each time they lack inspiration.

London is magical. Hence it stands in TST top 5 destinations for weekend getaways! This time, TST is taking you to East London.

A great article in The Telegraph, available here, gives us a taste of what contemporary British style looks like.

Browsing through the article, one can learn that East London and the fashion industry are tightly bound together.

While TST was wandering in the streets, it also became clear that the Eastside was also an open window on an unpredictable though beautiful street art scene!

The Ned - Millies Lounge

The Ned is an excellent place for friends to meet up. Eight restaurants sit amidst The Ned’s historic 3,000 square meters former banking hall, serving food from around the world. We went to Millie's lounge. Millie's serves classic British dishes alongside a selection of sparkling wines, craft ales and seasonal cocktails.

In the Street

Thierry Noir Is a French street artist, who claimed to be the first street artist to paint the Berlin walls. TST discovered this artist for the first time in London in 2016. As discussed with him, he explained to us how he started painting on West Berlin before the fall the wall. He felt no sadness though about the destruction of five years work!!!

We also had the opportunity to look at his early work which was the predecessors of the current Fast Form manifest!

In an article of the independent available here, one learns the meaning of his street art and its impact on society:

“If you paint on the street you are immediately political because you change the life of the people. Especially in northern Europe where the winters are long and grey – you give people a one-second smile on their face,” he says."

Street art, TST's opinion, is a reliable way to bring art directly to the masses with no engagement from them to fulfil any Museum internal requirements. People are confronted with the artist's work and forced to have a think about it. They have to reflect on what type of emotion this view triggers in them.
