Are you're willing to travel far with minimum jet lag and maximum change of scenery, try Mauritius! It is quiet an expensive place to travel, but 100% worth the trip.

So if you’re willing to do so, check out the tips below, and TST rating for bests accommodations and boutique hotels during the trip.

TRAVELLING WITH KENYA AIRWAYS Busines Class

TIP 1: How ?

If you are wondering how to travel BC without blowing the Kitty, check this!

Kenya Airways Drealiner
Kenya Airways Dreamliner Experience

Bae and I are on the road again!

This time, we’re going to the Indian ocean ! Since luxembourg is not an international travelling hub for long haul flights, we travelled via Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Nairobi.

Miles and mores & Star alliance earning miles program

Miles and More is miles rewarding program that allows you as a member to earn and spend miles with their partners (around 300).

If you're travelling on one of this star alliances, you’re earning points, and you can enter the status of frequent traveller, Senator or Hon circle member.

So be careful when booking to make sure that the company is part of at least one of these alliances and that you’re a member of miles and more.

Upon arrival at Mahebourg airport, went through the customs.

Check out their program here!

TIP 2: be mentally prepared for luggage search especially if you're a black traveller

At Nairobi layover, careful not to give unnecessary information about your destination to random passengers curious about you and your trip plans!

I responded to an "passenger" waiting in the Business Class lounge.

At one point the guy showed us his Mauritius custom agent card and told us that we would probably get checked upon arrival in Mauritius. The rationale of this according to him, I quote is that: « a young black lady travelling with a white guy, coming from Amsterdam and going to Mauritius, it is very SUSPICIOUS. » Incredible, but yes! True!

Upon arrival in Mauritius, while leaving the customs zone, a guy comes toward me and tells us to step aside because we will be subject to luggage check. Just as if he had a description of me. I was wearing long African braids!

We got effectively checked!!! They verified our luggage and actively searched them to the point where the custom guy started to show nervous signs and hectic behaviour rummaging everything in the suitcase as well as the vanity case.

As if somebody had warned him. Sadly for him, his quest was unfruitful.

Indeed, at the same time, we all discovered the „capharnaüm“ that was now reigning in my beauty case. Pack your suitcase to avoid this!

After this tumultuous arrival, I had the feeling that the rest of our journey could be nothing but better!

TIP 3 clothing

Make sure that you bring a great cardigan and at least a leather jacket with you. At this time of the year (end of August, beginning of September), it’s winter and this side of the island is the most windy one!

I found out that wearing women suits in the eve was very appropriate, people love it and it was a wise choice for chilly evenings.

Check out TST instagram to see the two suits I wore in the eve!

TIP 4 : change your € for Ruppies at the airport upon arrival.

TIP 5: be nice and polite to people, drop the entitlement ball and smile.

With the Captain of our flight!

You might be really surprised to see the other person face suddenly enlightened! Very powerful!

TIP 6 - Negociate

Talk to people at the local food store, on site there will be probably someone who will be happy to help you find a guide or a taxi for instance. Negotiating for the price is advised. We were proposed 3800 ruppies to go from Rivière Noire to Wapalapam. We finally got there for 1800 ruppies.

We found our taxi by discussing randomly in Black River wine store.

Kudos to our guide, a very strong woman.

Belle Mare - THE RESIDENCE RESORT (EAST COAST) 8,5/10

See below the video of the Residence Resort with TST travel tips !

Our RoadTrip started at Residence hotel in Belle Mare.

I really enjoyed the large wooden decorated room with a balcony, the high ceiling. The must was the amazing dressing designed inside the bathroom!

The overall resort design is an affirmed Colonial Style, with a wise combination of local (teak?) wood and volcanic stones.
